I'm joining in on the fun over at Rachel's of Stitched in Color. She asked the question: "Why make your own?" Everyone has a why. You don't invest so much time, money and determination into a hobby like quilting because you think it's just okay.
I've talked about this before.... how quilting is not just something I do in my spare time ---it's an obsession. Most other quilters I know are like this too. It doesn't seem to be a casual hobby. You're either all in or out. Quilters are an extremely passionate breed.
Quilting for me is the creative outlet I've always needed and went 29 years without. I can retreat into my "studio", aka the basement, and focus solely on my sewing which is theraputic for me. It allows me to follow my owns whims, when you have to be so practical in the rest of life.
There is something about working on a project from start to finish, envisioning it in your mind, and watching it take shape. Using your own 2 hands to make it happen. The finished project is functional yet shows artistic flair, and can be an heirloom down the road.
How is that not the most satisfying personal accomplishment?
