Flame and fire. Be it the small romantic glow of candlelight in a room, the refined and controlled cozy heat from a fireplace, or the wild crackle of a bonfire, we are captured by flame and fire. Soothing and mesmerizing. As summer turns into autumn, fire and candleight become more present as lasting daylight fades. This block captures our fascination with the flame.
The Hygge Sampler Quilt Pattern: Block #8 Mittens
Here we are at August and Block #8. It’s hard to imagine needing mittens right now, as the heat is blazing here in the late summer. But let’s do out best to get in the hygge mood this month. We are sewing 3 Mitten blocks. When I think of fall and winter, I love how knitted hats and mittens have become not just items to be used in cold weather, but also a fashion statement that completes a cozy look. Do you reserve mittens and a beanie for only days when it snows? Or are they regular wears in winter months? I’m always cold, so they are a cool weather staple for me.

Block #7 is one of my favorites! This month we are sewing 2 Furry Friend blocks. Oh my gosh, what would we do without pets! It is amazing how their presence can fill our homes and bring so much joy and laughter. We have 3 cats, and although they are almost silent, it is unbelievable how much love and depth they bring to our home. They are always around when one of my boys is upset, and needs 5 minutes of petting time to calm down. One loves to come sit on my lap and knead my side while she purrs. Pets are good company indeed.
