And we’re into summer with Block #6! We’re going to continue our cozy, even though the heat is turning up across the country. We can keep it up to complete our cozy finish by the time we need it! This month we are sewing 2 knitting needle blocks.

This month, we have Block #6 Knitting from the Hygge Sampler Quilt Pattern. Yarn crafts are notoriously hygge, with their warm and soft texture whether you are wearing knit or crochet, or cuddling under a handmade blanket. Not only are these items cozy for use, but the action of making them is also extremely soothing. Although I am a beginner in the knitting department at best, I enjoy the simple rhythm of knitting next to the fire in the colder months.
NOW… I do want to warn you. These blocks are time consuming… and it takes a fair amount of patience to zigzag stitch all the way around each knitting needle. While I was sewing my samples, I was about ready to throw these blocks out the window with frustration. I almost did take them out of the pattern. BUT, I found that if I did one needle set per day ,and broke up the work into smaller sections, I was able to finish the applique without needing an intervention.
Surprise, surprise…. once they were done, I was really happy with how they looked! But I was definitely a cranky bear while working on them for a while. Please don’t hate me - I think you’ll like them when you’re finished too!
Here is a link to a tutorial on raw edge applique if you need a reminder.
