Whew! Here’s a quilt finish! I started working on this Church Window Quilt Kit about a year ago, during 2020 spring shutdown. I thought “Sure!” that’s a great quilt design and I absolutely love the colors, so I’d love to sew up a sample. The pattern is Church Window by Lo and Behold Stitchery. There are many versions of this quilt out there, and I loved the simplicity of it in Kona solids in ombre emerald green. It’s perfect to show you this finish with the luck of the Irish in this month of March.
So minty and fresh!
Cutting out the half hexagons went pretty well. But when I got to piecing the rows together, I realized this was not the mindless easy piecing I wanted for stress relief during the beginning of the pandemic. lol. Those dark grey sashings are no joke! I had to be careful and patient with sewing all the angles.
This quilt went together slow, but sure. After a few rows, I had figured out a method to getting the rows in pretty good alignment. I like my seams and intersections precise - and although I may have muttered a few cuss words during the process, when I step back and look, it all came out well!
Patience, grasshopper. A good lesson for all me.
Estill at Red Rooster Quilts quilted this for me. I love the pattern that almost looks like it has licks of fire across the quilt. Adds some spice to the jewel-toned emerald color palette. After all this work, this one’s a keeper for me!
