It’s month 2 of the Hygge Sampler! We are just getting started constructing the coziest quilt ever. This QAL uses one block pattern per month over the next year. Sometimes we make only one block, but most months there are several to make a little gallery. When you purchase the pattern, you have the whole thing up front to accommodate when you have time to sew. We all know how unpredictable schedules are, so please sew when you can!

This month, we have Block #2 Warm Pie from the Hygge Sampler Quilt Pattern. Can you smell the warm pie just pulled out of the oven? The second quilt block in the sampler is a nod to the art form that is pie-making. A labor of love, and devoured in a second. Making a good pie crust is key to tasty pie. Here we construct our tasty pie with raw edge applique.
We make 2 of these Warm Pie blocks this month and place them side by side. Have you done raw edge applique before? Need a refresher? I have a tutorial on raw edge applique if you need a little help. The tutorial has photos and step outs.
Most of the applique shapes are symmetrical in this block, except the whipped cream at the top. Remember your applique shapes will reverse when you fuse the web to the back. So if you prefer your whipped cream to tip left instead of right you may want to take note of that. Ultimately, it makes no difference which way your whipped cream faces. It will still be delicious!
FABRIC Label organization CHART
Did you create your own version of the Fabric Chart? Remember to use your Fabric Chart on Page 5. Keep it with you for reference whenever you are cutting. The cutting instructions for each block are simple when you are able to look up the needed color or print on this page. This is the last time, I promise, I’ll remind you about how simple this page makes your life when following the pattern. I truly hope you use it and it helps you!
